Why do my property lines appear to be in the wrong place when I view them on the website?

Because many of the older parcels in the county are a product of hand drawn mapping, there may be a significant difference between the lines displayed on the map and the actual property lines. These problems are being addressed on a case-by-case, as needed basis. To find your actual property lines, you should locate a recorded survey map of your property or contact a professional surveyor.

What is the difference between GIS Acres and Deeded Acres?

Deeded Acres is the acreage recorded on the deed to a property, while GIS Acres is a value calculated by a computer when a parcel is digitally mapped. These values should be approximately the same, but it is not uncommon to find a small discrepancy between them, especially with older parcels that were originally mapped by hand.

When were the aerial photographs taken?

The aerial photographs displayed on the website were taken between March 6 and April 15, 2008.

How do I save or print my search results?

In order to save or print your website search results you must download them as a text file, unzip it, and import it into an Excel worksheet. Follow the instructions below:

  1. Perform your search.
(If the Results Tab reads "More than 100 results available", you may need to change the drop down menu on the right to display up to 500 results and click Perform Search again.)
  2. Click the Download Results Button (Blue) in the upper left corner of the Results Tab.
  3. Click the Downloads Box that appears in the center of your screen.
  4. Save the zipped file folder to a location on your computer that you can easily find later, such as the Desktop.
  5. Navigate to the location where you saved the zipped folder and open it. You should see the file Results.txt.
  6. Click on Extract all files to unzip the text file. Follow the directions of the Extraction Wizard Window and extract the file to a directory or location on your computer that you can easily find later, such as the Desktop.
  7. Open Excel.
  8. Go to Data —> Import External Data —> Import Data
  9. Navigate to the location where you saved the extracted (unzipped) text file Results.txt.
  10. Select Results.txt and click Open.
  11. This should open the Text Import Wizard. Click Next twice.
  12. In order to display your information properly, you must set the data format of the first 3 columns (OWNER, PARID, and PIN) to Text. Click on each of the 3 columns individually and select Text under Column Data Format in the upper right portion of the window. Each column should be highlighted when you click on it.
  13. Click Finish and Click OK.
  14. Now you have converted your results into an Excel spreadsheet. You may need to hide or delete columns that contain extraneous information in order to make your spreadsheet easier to read. You may now save or print your search results.

Why can’t I see latitude and longitude values?

As you move your cursor over the map, you should be able to see latitude and longitude values in the bottom left corner of your screen. Some versions of Internet Explorer do not automatically enable this feature. To display latitude and longitude, follow the instructions below:

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools —> Internet Options.
  2. Click on the Security Tab.
  3. Click the Custom Level Button.
  4. Scroll down until you see "Allow status bar updates via script"
  5. Click Enable.
  6. Click OK and Click Yes.
  7. Click OK and Refresh or Reload the webpage (not just the map itself).

I recently bought or sold a property, but the ownership information on the map hasn’t been updated yet. Why?

The information displayed by the G.I.S. website is limited to the current tax billing year only. For this reason, information about recent land sales may not be available for several months after the transaction has been completed.
